Karawang,Kabarsebelas.com – Petani garam di pesisir pantai utara Karawang, berhenti berproduksi, dampak air laut sebagai sumber utama pembuatan garam tercemar minyak pertamina yang bocor sejak dua minggu lalu.
Para petani Garam di Batujaya dan Tempuran resah akibat tumpahan minyak yang menyebar hingga ke lepas pantai . Akibat air laut tercemar tersebut, membuat sebagian petani enggan menggarap lahannya, lantaran bahan baku pembuatan garam sudah tidak layak untuk diproduksi menjadi garam.
Suwito (52) petani garam asal Desa Sungai Buntu, Kecamatan Cibuaya mengatakan, sejak adanya insiden kebocoran Anjungan Lepas Pantai YY Area Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (ONWJ), Kawarang, petani garam berhenti memproduksi karena air laut sudah terkontaminasi minyak.
“Sejak adanya peristiwa kebocoran anjungan lepas pantai, para petani garam berhenti produksi, ” kata Suwito, Rabu (31/7) saat ditemui di lokasi.
Dia juga mengatakan para petani garam enggan menggarap lahannya, sejak adanya peristiwa tersebut karena khawatir tumpahan minyak yang terus naik ke bibir pantai akan masuk ke lahan garapan pembuatan garam sehingga akan merugikan semua pihak.
“Petani sudah tidak menggrap lahan tambak pembuatan garam karena khawatir air bercampur bahan berbahaya masuk ke tambak garam, ” katanya.
Petani garam di pesisir Ciparage, Tempuran , Karmin (40) menejelaskan mengalami hal sama menunda aktivitas menggarap lahan tambak garam karena sewaktu-waktu saat memasukan air laut untuk produksi garam sudah tidak steril dari tumpahan minyak yang masih mengalami kebocoran dilepas pantai yang jaraknyanya hanya 7 mil dari bibir pantai.
” Untuk sementara tidak memproduksi garam dulu, karena proses perbaikan kilang minyak yang bocor belum selesai ,” jelasnya.(Nandang)
