Karawang, Kabarsebelas.com – Ribuan rumah warga Kecamatan Cilamaya Wetan, Kabupaten Karawang, Jawa Barat, terendam banjir dengan ketinggian mecapai satu meter, Jumat (10/1/2020).
Banjir yang merendam 12 desa itu lantaran guyuran hujan pada Kamis 9 Januari 2020. Akibatnya, air sungai Cilamaya dan Ciherang tidak terbendung sehingga meluap ke pemukiman padat warga.
Selain merendam pemukiman warga Cilamaya Wetan, dampak banjir juga melanda ribuan hektare persawahan dan tambak sehingga gagal panin.
“Dampak banjir luapan dua sungai, ribuan rumah terendam banjir yang tersebar di 12 desa,” ujar Camat Cilamaya Wetan, Basuki Rahmat Jum’at (10/1/2020) di lokasi yang terendam banjir.
Wilayah yang paling parah terdampak banjir ada di Desa Tegalwaru, Mekarmaya dan Cilamaya. Hingga kini BPBD, TNI, Polri, pemerintah, dan relawan terus mengevakuasi warga ke tempat yang lebih aman.
“Evakuasi masih terus dilakukan sejak dinihari, terutama anak-anak dan lansia serta orang sakit yang lebih dulu dievakuasi,” kata Basuki Rahmat.
Ia menjelaskan, pihaknya juga tengah mendata berapa total jumlah korban akibat musibah banjir yang melanda Kecamatan Cilamaya Wetan itu.
“Kami masih melakukan pendataan di lapangan mengenai jumlah korban banjir (Cilamaya Wetan) yang mengungsi,” jelas Basuki Rahmat. (red)
